[attr="class","ajbdbs0"] [attr="class","ajbdbs"] [attr="class","ajbdsfl"]► ARYANNA CERSEI ODAIR [break] [attr="class","ajbdbst"]PERSONALITY [attr="class","ajbdbsb"] STUBBORN Ary is very stubborn. In fact, that is the most classic and noticeable part of her personality. She will do things absolutely her own way, and doesn't usually care to collaborate with others about it. While it may seem like this sort of personality wouldn't mesh well with a team sport, she's managed to get by with only a few warnings. Mostly because she had a good arm on her, so nobody could fault her bad attitude. Nobody wants to get hit by a bludger, after all. [break] [break] ARROGANT Ary has a bad habit of believing that she is the best at any given task, which ties into her stubbornness quite well. As a Slytherin, she always wanted to be the absolute best at everything she set out to do. Her compulsivenss and obsessiveness sought to make this desire reality on many occasions. However, there were still things she was rubbish at (potions, people skills, etc.) - these things she flung aside as soon as she realized that she was not good at them, deeming them useless no matter what anyone else said. [break] [break] CREATIVE She's always been able to see the world in a different way, Ary has. She tends to dwell on the darkness of things, though, which irritates some people. Those kinds of people just want to see sunshine and flowers, where Ary tended to see clouds and thorns. She is most creative through her music. She played a collection of instruments before being bitten at 19, but she hasn't been able to pick up any of them since. She still writes songs and imagines them in her mind, but she can't bring herself to actually play them, because it doesn't feel the same. [break] [break] SECRETIVE Ary appreciates people's privacy - especially her own. She would much rather make small talk about the team and their upcoming games, even though she hates such trivial manners, than to talk about herself. Those close to her don't even know much of her own family life, mostly because she doesn't tend to reveal the information easily. There are few she allows herself to be trivial and open with. [break] [break] COMPETITIVE As with any professional athlete, Ary has a streak of competition within her. She always plays to win, and, when she doesn't, she's a completely sore loser. She will never use dirty tricks or cheat, though, which sets her apart from most former and current Slytherins - she doesn't believe in victory if it is not fully fairly won. That doesn't mean she won't fight with everything in her to win, though. It just means that she'll do it within the bounds of the rules. [break] [break] LONE WOLF Ary has always been one to stick to herself. She didn't socialize with many during her time at Hogwarts outside of Quidditch practices, and that was fine with her. She spent her spare minutes reading in the common room, writing music in the Astronomy tower, flying around the Pitch, or playing music on a spare piano in an abandoned room she she had located quite on accident. Her closest thing to a long-time friend is Phoenix, her cat, whom she is eternally grateful was not gifted with the ability to speak aloud the worries that Ary shared with her. [break] [break] AWKWARD For all the bravado that Ary shows in the air, that evaporates once her feet land on the ground once again. In person, Ary is more than a bit awkward. She will speak up at inopportune moments sometimes just to kill the silence. Or, she will make a joke that almost no one else gets or cares to try to understand, then laugh at it herself. [break] [attr="class","ajbdbst"]HISTORY [attr="class","ajbdbsb"] Born on a chilly morning on January 13th, 1994, Ary was not a simple birth for her mother. The labor lasted almost a full day, from dawn to dusk and into dawn the next morning. It may have been an easier time, except that Ary's mother, Lydia, had no one to help her. She had gotten pregnant at a young age of only 18, and had subsequently elected not to tell Ary's father this fact. Ergo, she ended up at the hospital by herself, in a muggle city all alone. [break] [break] Ary experienced a very muggle upbringing because that was what Lydia was - she had no idea she'd been knocked up by a wizard, or that wizards even existed. Her own family was very pure muggle lineage, and wealthy at that, well known in the English atmosphere as ones to watch and follow. That made the fact that Lydia had had a child out of wedlock and so young even more scandalous. Not wanting to deal with prying eyes, Lydia's parents had sent her to live with some distant relatives in Greece, which is where Aryanna spent most of her formative years. [break] [break] While most of the Odair family had at least a decent amount of money to their name, the Greek clan had decided to live more modestly. Ary wasn't exposed to fancy things or expected to have things fall into her lap - she learned how to work hard from a young age. Her Aunt Rei ran a small bakery in their little home town, and Ary began working there from age 7 or so, kneading dough, sweeping flour off of floors, and keeping displays tidy. Life was peaceful by the coast of the Mediterranean, and Ary learned much from the pack of strong women she was raised by. [break] [break] This all changed when Ary received her Hogwarts letter in June of 2005. As none of the family had never even heard of the existence of Hogwarts, it took some time for them to catch up to speed. Luckily, one of the women who lived in the town had attended Hogwarts and been a Hufflepuff there during her own time. After spotting the owl with its familiar envelope clutched in its claw. She knew that Lydia was a muggle, as were most in the town. She immediately took Ary under her wing and taught her of all things magical. This woman was named Aida, and she served as a good sounding board for Ary as she traveled through her years at Hogwarts [break] [break] Ary was sorted into Slytherin without much doubt upon her arrival in the castle. Her years spent there were unremarkable for the most part, save her time spent with Quidditch. She joined up in her third year after debating over it for the first two, not sure if she would have the guts when the time came. She started out trying for chaser, but her love of hitting things quickly lead her to a beater position. Throughout this time, she spent many of her free moments avoiding homework, playing music, and generally trying not to make eye contact. During the summers, she would return to Greece and help in the bakery, often returning with treats for the few people she tolerated. [break] [break] Once she graduated, professional Quidditch seemed like a logical step. Aryanna felt she had not sene enough of the world, though, and decided to take a year to explore. She went to Canada, several states in the US, Mexico, Morocco, and even South Korea, spreading her wings and loving every second of it. It only made her more independent, seeing the world through new eyes. [break] [break] Ary was wrapping up her year of adventure around May of 2013, and had returned closer to home, spending some time in Ireland. She was wandering around one night after spending some time exploring the rolling hills of the countryside. It wasn't often that she thought about her personal safety, so she wasn't usually on the defense. Long story short - she was dumb, naive, and uncaring. When the pack came across her, she was easy pickings. She doesn't remember much about being bitten, only that she thought she was dying. Much of the rest is only darkness and shadows. [break] [break] When Ary came to after the attack, she was certain she was in some sort of purgatory, for how could she have survived such an incidence? The answer lied in the form of her savior, Ethan. He was not originally Irish, but had set up shop in the countryside, looking for a more peaceful life. He was an American grad himself, and, lucky for Ary, a wizard who was very used to fighting off the packs that seemed to love to torment the area. He'd saved her, medicated her, and allowed her to wake up even though he knew what she would be when she did. Opening her confused eyes, the first thing she saw was his silent, sturdy figure. He took her hands in his and explained what he could to the terrified young girl. Over the next few months, he helped her get a handle on what her life had become. She could never understand why he did it. But, eventually, she coaxed the truth out of him - he'd lost a sister, around her age, to that very pack of werewolves. He wanted to make some peace with her memory. And Aryanna was his way of that. [break] [break] It took a good eight months before Aryanna was comfortable being away from Ethan. Like an older brother, he'd become a protector to her, a shield. Eventually though, he urged her back out into the world. He encouraged her to fight for her original dream of professional quidditch. She stayed with him until slightly past her 20th birthday, before venturing back out. The first thing she did was sign up for the team. The second was to write her mother a letter. [break] [break] Ary explained that she'd been ill for sometime with a disease that she'd caught back in her travels. She knew it sounded fake, but, she hoped that her mother wouldn't question it. Besides, during her stay with Ethan, he'd insisted on authenticating the story with many letters to her mother, and urged her to keep contact even when she didn't want to. This final letter had been different, though - it had promised a meeting. When she did finally return to Greece in May of that year, she didn't feel like herself anymore. The sea no longer brought her joy, and the sight of the abandoned piano in their living space made her only angry. Her mother immediately sensed these changes. [break] [break] Ary only spent a few weeks at home before confirming a spot on the team. Even that time was too long. Her mother and her no longer seemed on the same wavelength, and they were awkward with each other. Lydia could not understand why Ary was so distant and cold, and secretive. They had always shared things with each other in the past. Ary left to go start training with the team at the end of June, and has been a part of the team ever since. She has not been back to Greece in a couple of years, blaming the absence on her busy schedule. She does, however, always make it a point to return to Ireland and to Ethan, though, as this is what tends to keep her sanity and clarity in check. She hopes she can one day return home and feel safe there, but she doesn't think it will happen any time soon.
